Ticonderoga, N.Y. - The 20th Annual Ticonderoga Area Car Show will be held Sunday, August 5, 2012 in Ticonderoga’s Bicentennial Park from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. There will be 27 classes with awards in each class. The show is a judged show and a “SuperWheels Showdown” Qualifier. The first 150 People registered will receive a goody bag & dash plaque! During the Car Show there will be food, vendors, a 50/50 Raffle, silent auction raffle tent, Car Show Raffle and music by Jerry’s Juke Box as well as the Kiwanis Duck Race, a Piston Toss, Muffler Wrap and a Hoola Hoop Contest. To enter as a participant, there is a $15.00 pre-registration fee for those who enter before August 3rd, 2012.
Those who wish to register as a participant at the gate will be charged a $20.00 registration fee. Spectators are free on the day of the show, although donations are greatly appreciated to support the show and the Chamber. Participants who pre-register will be entered into a special drawing for a prize of $100 dollars. Judging will begin at 11:00 AM. All vehicles must be on the grounds by 10:45 AM or they will not be judged.
As part of the Ticonderoga Area Car Show, the Kiwanis Club of Ticonderoga Duck Race is scheduled to be held on Sunday, August, 5th. The race will begin at 11:00 AM and will be held on the LaChute River in Bicentennial Park. Ducks will be available for purchase in Bicentennial Park that morning.
On Saturday, August 4th there will be a Community Cruise at 1:00 PM starting at the Best Western Plus Ticonderoga Inn & Suites as well as a Downtown Cruise In from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM in Downtown Ticonderoga with music by Jerry’s Juke Box in front of the Chamber office. Montcalm Street in Downtown will be closed to traffic during the Cruise In as well as a short time prior and after. Trophies will be awarded at the Cruise In as well.
The Chamber is also working with area businesses to offer specials and promotions for the Car Show weekend. Look for additional information to be announced soon. In addition there are a variety of events happening throughout the weekend within the Ticonderoga Area including a concert from the Lake Placid Sinfonietta in Ticonderoga, Living History Weekend at Fort Ticonderoga, and Champ/Johnny Podres Day in Port Henry.
To further expand the car show and the goals of the Chamber the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of
Commerce is implementing for 2012 a Car Show Raffle. Tickets are available for a $10.00 donation. The first prize is $3,000 and the second prize is $2,000. Only 1,000 tickets will be sold. The drawing will take place at the 20th Annual Ticonderoga Area Car Show on Sunday, August 5th, 2012. You do not need to be present to win. Tickets will be available through August 5th unless they are sold out prior to that date.
