4th Annual Civil War Heritage Day Sept. 13 at Albany Rural Cemetery
ALBANY, N.Y. – A full day of Civil War sights and sounds will be seen and heard throughout Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands from 10 a.m. 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, during the 4th Annual Civil War Heritage Day.
The day recognizes the more than 800 Civil War Veterans who are buried at
Civil War Soldier Camps, a mounted cavalry and displays of Civil War period wagons and carriages will be featured. Performing will be the 77th NY Regimental Balladeers and the Excelsior Cornet Band,
Civil War walking tours of the cemetery will take place throughout the day, with special slide presentations in the cemetery’s chapel.

Among the many special displays and exhibits during Civil War Heritage Day are the 117th NYV Field Hospital, Underground Railroad History Project of the Capital Region, Civil War Battle Display, the Ulysses S. Grant Cottage, the Capital District Blacksmith Association and a special cancellation by the U.S. Postal Service.
Visitors should enter at the Broadway entrance to the cemetery. Admission is $5 per car.
