Baseball Is Not The Only Game In Cooperstown
Central Leatherstocking city is rich in history: Historic Cooperstown, in Otsego County, is home to the National Baseball Hall of Fame, which explores 150 years of America’s national pastime. But Cooperstown has much more to offer than just baseball. Apart from being synonymous with the Clark Family, half owners of the patent for the ubiquitous Singer Sewing Machine, the town (founded in 1786) also features an historic hotel — the The Inn at Cooperstown — and the Fenimore Art Museum, named after the celebrated 19th century American author, James Fenimore Cooper and renowned for its collection of American Indian art. The nearby Alice Busch Opera Theater is home to the internationally acclaimed Glimmerglass Opera.
