Map Included as Part of Website Redesign and Upgrade
Albany, N.Y. - The Hudson River Valley Greenway has announced the availability of an interactive Water Trail map on the newly updated and re‐designed Hudson River Greenway Water Trail website. The redesigned website features a map of the water trail using Google Map, as well as information pages for water trail users and current and potential site owners, a page on currently designated sites, location and use of kayak storage racks, water trail grants, and a chronicle of this year’s Great Champlain‐Hudson Paddle. Winning images to be featured in 2010 calendar
Waterford, NY - Sunrises, sunsets, celebrations, and everyday scenes from more than 500 miles along the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor are among 12 winning images of the 2009 Erie Canalway Photo Contest. Winning photographs will be featured in the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor 2010 Calendar, available later this fall. Read more »
“2007 Shipwrecks of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Project” receives prestigious award at National Scenic Byways 2009 Conference in Denver, Colorado
Denver, CO – The “2007 Shipwrecks of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Project” that put a spotlight on the maritime heritage resources of the 518-mile coastal region of the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario, Niagara River and Lake Erie in New York and Pennsylvania received a 2009 Scenic Byway Award for Interpretation during the National Scenic Byways 2009 Conference in Denver, Colorado, in August.
Project partners Great Lakes Seaway Trail President and CEO Teresa Mitchell, New York Sea Grant Recreation and Tourism Specialist Dave White accepted the award on behalf of their organizations and the New York State Scenic Byways Program. Read more »

Canal motorship Day Peckinpaugh joined by other historic vessels in Whitehall, Fort Edward, and Schuylerville
Waterford, NY- The historic canal motorship Day Peckinpaugh travels the Champlain Canal from 8/21/09 through 8/29/09 on its 500-mile Quadricentennial Legacy Voyage from Lake Champlain to New York Harbor. The 259-foot canal boat, built in 1921, will be joined by the 1901 Tug Urger and both vessels will be open to the public for free tours at Skenesborough Harbor Park in Whitehall on Friday, August 21, at the Canal Maintenance Facility in Fort Edward on Sunday, August 23, and at the Hudson Crossing Fest on Lock 5 Island in Schuylerville on Saturday, August 29 Read more »
