Fonda, NY – The Adirondack North Country Association (ANCA) has just released the very first travel brochure dedicated entirely to promoting the four-county, 188-mile Adirondack Trail Scenic Byway, and every community along the special travel route. The project supports tourism and economic development by encouraging visitation at special places in cities, towns and villages along the entire Byway.
The four-season travel guide will provide visitors of all ages with an invitation to discover many new attractions and the friendly people across the region as well as introduce the Byway’s easy access to nature, history, and culture. Fonda, NY – The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Tourism Department has announced the extension of the Tourism Property Description deadline to September 30. Restaurants, lodging facilities, and attractions in Montgomery County should have received this form in August.
“A new Montgomery County Travel Guide is currently being designed. The Tourism Property Description form is vital to this process to ensure correct, up-to-date information is being included in the Travel Guide,” states Gina DaBiere-Gibbs, Tourism Director. “The tourism property listing will also be updated on the tourism website, www.visitmontgomerycountyny.com. Albany, NY – Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program today released its second 2009 Fall Color Report for New York State. The program’s statewide field observers report that bright, beautiful fall colors are quickly overtaking the green shades of summer in the Adirondacks and Catskills regions. Noticeable color changes are also expected for some parts of the Capital-Saratoga, Central Leatherstocking, Chautauqua-Allegheny and Finger Lakes regions.

Howes Cave, N.Y. — Dr. Jirka Kratochvíl, associate professor of music and chair of the music department at music at Hartwick College in Oneonta, has completed a new CD, Echoes in Stone, recorded underground in Howe Caverns.“Musicians have long appreciated the acoustics in the caverns including our founder, Lester Howe, who played the fiddle in the cave. The new work Dr. Kratochvil has created is a musical treasure,” said Howe Caverns General Manager Robert Holt.The recording is completely original work and is played on various types of native American flutes. “But there are two other outstanding features in the recording — water and percussions,” Dr. Kratochvíl said.
