Purchase, NY - The Westchester Philharmonic continues another record-breaking season under the baton of Artistic Director Itzhak Perlman on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 8 pm and Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 3 pm with clarinetist Anthony McGill, whose breathtaking performance with Yo-Yo Ma and Maestro Perlman during January’s Presidential Inauguration vaulted him into national prominence. Art Students Open Studios to Present Work to Public

suny-new-paltz-arts-release.jpgNew Paltz, NY - The Student Art Alliance at the State University of New York at New Paltz welcomes the public to its Open Studios event from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 23.  Studio locations are in the Fine Arts Building - metals, ceramics, printmaking; Smiley Arts Building - drawing, painting, digital; and Old Library - photography, digital, graphic design.
 
On view will be challenging and thought-provoking work by both bachelor of arts and master of fine arts candidates in their studios - as finished projects and works in progress. A number of the student projects are steeped in tradition while others cross disciplinary boundaries. Read more »

Albany, NY - Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program has released its fifth 2009 Fall Color Report for New York State. Brilliant peak colors are expected to arrive in the Catskills region and parts of the Central-Leatherstocking region this weekend, according to field observers for Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program. Travelers to the Adirondacks will find a mixture of peak and past peak conditions with plenty of stunning fall hues remaining. Please note that high winds forecasted for parts of the state may have an adverse effect on the foliage, with greater than usual leaf droppage. Read more »

Albany, NY — Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program has released its fourth 2009 Fall Color Report for New York State. Gorgeous colorful peak foliage is expected to make its first appearance in the Adirondacks region this weekend, according to field observers for Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program. SUNY New Paltz to host exclusive event featuring an advance screening of ‘Compassion’ – Season 5 the Peabody Award-winning documentary ‘Art:21 – Art in the Twenty-First Century’

The event, open to the public, features a sneak preview of “Compassion,” one of four episodes of “Art:21″ being premiered on PBS this season. Read more »
