Raggedy Ann & Andy Museum Closes Doors, Donates Collection to Strong National Museum of Play®

There’s no place like home!Rochester, NY - Raggedy Ann and AndyTM have embarked on a BIG adventure! Gathering their belongings, the iconic mop-headed duo hopped onto a truck with Strong National Museum of Play curators and travelled all the way from Arcola, Illinois (birthplace of their creator Johnny Gruelle) to Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester.

The Raggedy Ann & Andy Museum in Arcola, Illinois, founded ten years ago by Joni Gruelle Wannamaker (granddaughter of the doll’s creator) and her husband Tom, will close its doors at the end of 2009 and has donated family papers, manuscripts, and an amazing array of Raggedy Ann & Andy toys and dolls to Strong National Museum of Play. Maritime Adventures at the H. Lee White Museum

Children enjoying summer activities offered at the H. Lee White Marine Museum last summer.Oswego, NY - The H. Lee White Marine Museum is unveiling a new waterfront program this summer called “Maritime Adventures”.  Only three dates have been scheduled for July but each day includes a three-hour long adventure of activities, art, crafts and games held on the Museum Pier rain or shine.

Professional instructors Roey Bannon Pimentel, Joe Rial and Robin Snyder will lead one of the 3 sessions. In each adventure children will explore various arts and crafts, play games from the magic treasure chest, enjoy a pirate feast and experience a few maritime shenanigans. Read more »
