Albany, NY — Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program has released its fourth 2009 Fall Color Report for New York State. Gorgeous colorful peak foliage is expected to make its first appearance in the Adirondacks region this weekend, according to field observers for Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program. Brilliant, near-peak foliage will make its first appearance in New York State this weekend in parts of the Adirondacks, while rapidly changing colors in the Catskills will bring most of the region to around the midpoint of change, according to I LOVE NEW YORK field observers. Albany, NY – Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program today released its second 2009 Fall Color Report for New York State. The program’s statewide field observers report that bright, beautiful fall colors are quickly overtaking the green shades of summer in the Adirondacks and Catskills regions. Noticeable color changes are also expected for some parts of the Capital-Saratoga, Central Leatherstocking, Chautauqua-Allegheny and Finger Lakes regions.

Great Lakes Seaway Trail Project Wins National Scenic Byway Award

Denver, CO – The “2007 Shipwrecks of the Great Lakes Seaway Trail Project” that put a spotlight on the maritime heritage resources of the 518-mile coastal region of the St. Lawrence River, Lake Ontario, Niagara River and Lake Erie in New York and Pennsylvania received a 2009 Scenic Byway Award for Interpretation during the National Scenic Byways 2009 Conference in Denver, Colorado, in August.

Project partners Great Lakes Seaway Trail President and CEO Teresa Mitchell, New York Sea Grant Recreation and Tourism Specialist Dave White accepted the award on behalf of their organizations and the New York State Scenic Byways Program. Read more »
