The Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative deadline of June 1, 2009 is fast approaching for travelers to have officially recognized documents for crossing the international border between the U.S. and Canada. The 2009 edition of the Cross-Border Travel Tips for Recreational Boaters, RV Owners & Motorists Traveling the Great Lakes Seaway Trail lists the types of acceptable personal identification documents.To facilitate smooth border crossings for motorists, RV owners and boaters, New York Sea Grant and the nonprofit tourism organization Seaway Trail, Inc. have published the Cross Border Travel Tips with assistance from U.S. and Canadian border crossing officials since 2002.
