SARANAC LAKE – Now celebrating its 111th year, The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival is the longest-running event of its kind in the Eastern United States. This year’s event, “Hooray for Hollywood,” runs through Feb. 10. Begun as a one-day event to break the monotony of the long Adirondack winter, the Carnival has grown into a ten-day festival that includes sporting activities, dances and the world-famous Ice Palace. Fourth Graders can ski or ride free at 29 New York Resorts this Winter, when accompanied by a paying adult, with a Ski & Ride Passport available through Ski Areas of New York.
