200-mile bicycle tour from Albany to NYC scheduled for August 10-15, 2010
Albany, N.Y. - The 6th annual Great Hudson Valley Pedal-a six-day, 200-mile recreational bicycle tour from Albany to New York City-is scheduled for August 10-15, 2010.
Great Hudson Valley Pedal participants will pedal their way through one of the most picturesque river valleys in the world. The Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site, Olana State Historic Site, and West Point are just a few of the many interesting stops along the way. Rich in history, culture, wineries, and gourmet cuisine, the Hudson Valley offers fantastic bicycling. The tour, which includes three panoramic bridge crossings, will ride along designated bike routes, scenic roads, and off-road trails, including the renowned Manhattan Waterfront Greenway along the west side of Manhattan. Lake Placid, N.Y. - The 28th annual Lake Placid Loppet, presented by High Peaks Cyclery, cross-country ski races will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Olympic Sports Complex Cross Country Ski Center.

Canandaigua, N.Y. - Bristol Mountain will be hosting the Toyota Freestyle Fest Jan. 16-18 . The event will be a USSA sanctioned Mogul and Dual Mogul competition and will be held on Lower Galaxy. The top freestyle athletes from the Eastern US will be competing in the “A” events (athletes ages 13 through 20) in moguls on Saturday and Sunday and in Dual Moguls on Monday. Points earned at this event will be posted on the USSA national points list and help these athletes earn invitations to Junior Olympics, Nationals and the NorAm tour. This will be the only A event held in NY State this Winter and the winner of this event both of the last two seasons has gone on to earn a spot on the US Freestyle Team. Read more »
Lake Placid, N.Y. — The last stop for freestyle athletes to qualify for the U.S. Olympic team touches down in Lake Placid, N.Y., Jan. 21-24, for three days of excitement with aerials, moguls and ski cross competitions at the Nature Valley Freestyle Cup.
“Lake Placid is a pivotal event for our athletes with the final chance to qualify for the Olympic Team,” said U.S. ski team freestyle head coach Jeff Wintersteen. “The battle is especially intense in both men’s and women’s moguls where we still have a large number of athletes who have a chance to get on the podium and possibly grab an Olympic spot.
