Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art to open two ‘Art and the River’ exhibitions in September

greg-miller.jpgNew Paltz, NY – The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art at the State University of New York at New Paltz will present the final two exhibitions in its six-month “Art and the River” series, the college’s contribution to the Hudson River Quadricentennial, beginning next month.

 

“The Hudson River: A Great American Treasure” by Greg Miller and “Inscription” by Philippine Hoegen and Carolien Stikker will open Sept. 19 and run through Nov. 29. An opening reception will be held for both shows from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19. Read more »

Albany Convention Center Authority Board Approves Second Land Purchase for Proposed Convention Center

Albany, N.Y. (Aug. 28)  - The Board of Directors of the Albany Convention Center Authority (ACCA) today approved the purchase of the second parcel of land for the proposed New York State convention center to be located off Broadway and along Hudson Ave.

This investment is being made by the State of New York, at the direction of Governor David A. Paterson. The governor approved an allocation of $10 million through the Empire State Development Corp.  in the fall of 2008. The fund enables the advancement of land acquisition, pre-construction planning, environmental investigation, archeology and historic conservation for the convention center project. Read more »

Great Lakes Seaway Trail President & CEO Teresa Mitchell; Thomas Ranese, Chief Marketing Officer for Empire State Development Corporation; Fort La Presentation Association President Barbara O’Keefe; and New York State French and Indian War 250th Anniversary Commemoration Commission Vice Chair Nicholas Westbrook participated in the recent I Love New York travel marketing campaign to Canada.Sackets Harbor, NY - Representatives from across the Great Lakes Seaway Trail byway that parallels the Saint Lawrence River and Great Lakes shoreline were recently among 43 tourism representatives on an I Love New York marketing campaign in Canada.
