19th Annual Oktoberfest Celebrates Foliage Season at Whiteface

Wilmington, N.Y. - The 19th annual Whiteface Oktoberfest, in Wilmington, N.Y., is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 2-3.  During the two-day festival, the Olympic mountain dusts off its lederhosen, fires up the oompah band and enjoys a tall mug of German beer.  But it’s more than that… it’s fun for the entire family with activities including original vendors, arts and crafts, children’s rides including the popular hayride, Bavarian food, drink, entertainment, and new this year; 60-second challenges.

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - Famed wine connoisseur, educator and best-selling author Kevin Zraly will be featured at the Saratoga Wine & Food and Fall Ferrari Festival, September 10, 11 and 12. Zraly, who has been described as “America’s most famous and entertaining wine teacher,” is the author of Windows on the World Complete Wine Course, the best-selling wine book in US history. Zraly will teach a seminar on Italian wines and serve as auctioneer for Live Auction of Luxuries at the Grand Tasting on Saturday, September 11.  The event, presented by the Italian Trade Commission, is a fundraiser to benefit the education programs of Saratoga Performing Arts Center and the Saratoga Automobile Museum. Keene, N.Y. - The third annual Great Adirondack Rutabaga Festival will take place at Marcy Field in Keene from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 5.

A delicious way to spend a Sunday, the annual celebration of this wonderful root vegetable is one of only two Rutabaga Festivals in the country.  Throughout the day, attendees will enjoy tastings and demonstrations of innovative rutabaga creations by celebrity chefs, and all are eligible to enter the Rutabaga Competition, with prizes for the largest, most unique and best decorated ‘bagas.
