Mars Education Center Receives Prestigious LEED Certification
Ticonderoga, N.Y. - The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) has recently granted Fort Ticonderoga’s Deborah Clarke Mars Education Center at Fort Ticonderoga a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEEDtm) certification. The prestigious certification is a national accreditation honor given to buildings that have been rated as “green” for their efforts to minimize negative impacts on the environment, and that actually make a positive contribution through their structure and design. Beth Hill, Executive Director, said “In keeping with the Fort’s long tradition of stewardship and conservation we were committed to constructing a ‘green building’ within our 18th century fortification. New Paltz, N.Y. - The Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art (Dorsky Museum) in partnership with Historic Huguenot Street (HHS) will hold an opening reception for Binary Visions: Early 19th-Century Woven Coverlets from the Collection of Historic Huguenot Street on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010. The event begins with a gallery talk by the exhibition curators from 4 - 5 p.m. followed by a reception from 5 - 8 p.m.
The exhibition, which has been jointly organized by the Dorsky Museum and HHS, will be open from Oct. 16 - Dec. 12, 2010 and again from Jan. 26 - Mar. 18, 2011. Chamber’s New Event One Week Away
Watkins Glen, N.Y. - Only one week remains before the Watkins Glen Area Chamber of Commerce will host its all new, inaugural event, A Taste of the Finger Lakes on Thursday, October 7th where attendees can come to see, sample and socialize! Albany, N.Y. - Following a week that included unseasonably warm weather, bright and beautiful fall colors have begun to come out in force across New York State, according to observers for Empire State Development’s I LOVE NEW YORK program. Canandaigua, N.Y. - The fall colors are arriving early this year at Bristol Mountain and the 2010 Fall Sky Ride season at Bristol Mountain is underway. Guests have spectacular views of the fall foliage from the popular sky ride attraction.
