Gore Mountain is Ready for Christmas Week

gore-more-gore-logo.JPGNorth Creek, N.Y. - - Gore is planning to double its current amount of open terrain in preparation for Christmas week.  Guests should look for a minimum of 40 trails open by December 26, serviced by 12 lifts including the North Quad and the High Peaks Chair.

“We’ve taken advantage of the prime snowmaking weather and guests will enjoy a product second to none in the East this Christmas,” commented Mike Pratt, Gore Mountain General Manager.  Gore Mountain’s snowmakers are successful with covering the most skiable terrain in New York State. Read more »

Whiteface is Vertical and Family Friendly

whiteface-logo.jpgWilmington, N.Y. - Whiteface Mountain in Wilmington may be best known for having the greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies and for hosting the 1980 winter Olympic Alpine events, but it’s also recognized as one of the nation’s top ski resorts for families.

According to About.Com, Whiteface is one of the country’s top family ski destinations, one of only three eastern resorts to make the list.  The on-line article touts the mountain as “an ideal venue for a family ski vacation,” and also describes many of the off-hill activities found in Wilmington and in Lake Placid including a tour of the Olympic sites, ice skating and partaking in the full schedule of winter events for the family. Greek Peak Mountain Resort Announces Ski/Ride Free Day To Benefit Local Food Banks – Dec. 24th

Cortland, N.Y. - As part of their continuing effort to benefit the local food bank and community, Greek Peak has dedicated December 24th as Ski Free Day from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm.  Any individual who brings one non-perishable food item on December 24th will receive a lift ticket good for that day (Rentals, Lessons, Programs, Tubing not included).  “The event is an opportunity for individuals to come out and have fun at Greek Peak while benefiting the Local Food Banks and the local community”, states Kevin Morrin , Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  “I couldn’t think of a better scenario”. Snowmobile Trail Map Available at Tourism Office
