Concert Lineup Set For Harborfest

Oswego, N.Y. - The concert line-up is set for Harborfest 2011.  Barenaked Ladies, presented by Constellation Nuclear Energy Group, will be the featured headliner on Friday, July 29 on the NRG Lakeview Stage at Breitbeck Park with local favorite Frostbit Blue opening for the popular Canadian alternative rockers.  Frostbit Blue will take the stage beginning at 7:30 PM, followed by Barenaked Ladies at 9:30 PM. Two-Day Independence Celebration This 4th of July Weekend at The Farmers’ Museum

farmers-museum.JPG Cooperstown, N.Y. - The Farmers’ Museum in Cooperstown will mark Independence Day with a special two-day celebration Sunday and Monday, July 3rd and 4th from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Each day there will be free ice cream for the first 500 paid visitors (sponsored by Huffs Ice Cream) and $2.00 off admission for everyone.  Kids 6 and under, NYSHA Members, aswell as active and retired career military personnel are always free.

On Sunday July 3, enjoy an afternoon of American Favorites including ballpark hot dogs and jazz!  There will be a hot dog competition starting at 11:00 a.m.  Actual ballpark franks (with all the fixings) from baseball stadiums around the country will be on sale. Read more »

New Native American Area To Open at Fenimore Art Museum On July 2

Otsego: A Meeting PlaceCooperstown,N.Y. - On Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Fenimore ArtMuseum in Cooperstown, N.Y. will officially unveil “Otsego: A Meeting Place” - its latest addition to the Native American Interpretive Area and Trail.   The day will offer a variety of family-friendly activities and programs.  Visitors will explore the lives and culture of the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) people through their art,stories, and objects.  Entry to “Otsego: A Meeting Place” is free with paid museum admission. US Coast Guard Cutter in Clayton July 4 Weekend

neah-bay.jpgClayton, N.Y.  - The Clayton Chamber of Commerce, along with the Village of Clayton and TheShipWatcher.com, announced today that United States Coast Guard Cutter Neah Bay is expected to dock in Clayton over the July 4th weekend.

USCGC Neah Bay, a 140-foot ice breaking tug based out of Cleveland, Ohio, will dock at Clayton’s Thousand Islands Regional Dock at Frink Park and be available for public tours. The vessel is expected to be in Clayton on Friday, July 1 through Sunday, July 3. Read more »

Albany, N.Y. - The 7th annual Great Hudson Valley Pedal-a six-day, 200-mile recreational bicycle tour from Albany to New York City-is scheduled for August 16-21, 2011. Great Hudson Valley Pedal participants will pedal their way through one of the most picturesque river valleys in the world.  The Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site, Olana State Historic Site, and West Point are just a few of the many interesting stops along the way.

Rich in history, culture, wineries, and gourmet cuisine, the Hudson Valley offers fantastic bicycling.  The tour, which includes five panoramic bridge crossings, will ride along designated bike routes, scenic roads, and off-road trails, including the renowned Manhattan Waterfront Greenway along the west side of Manhattan.
