Gore Mountain to Expand Open Terrain by 30% This Weekend

North Creek, N.Y.  - Snowmakers have been capitalizing on every opportunity to open more trails, and Gore expects to increase its open terrain by 30% over the weekend.  Efforts have been focused on the Pine Knot and Tannery trails, which will facilitate opening terrain on Gore’s summit soon after. The Bear Cub Poma is opening on Friday, which provides a surface lift and learning area dedicated to first-time skiers and riders. 

The North Creek Ski Bowl is also opening on Friday for tubing, with skiing and snowboarding on Village Slopes, snowshoeing, and Nordic skiing scheduled to commence December 26. Read more »

Saratoga Performing Arts Center to Honor 150th Anniversary of Saratoga Race Course with World Premiere on Aug. 8, 2013

spac-2013.jpgSaratoga Springs, N.Y. - Saratoga Performing Arts Center will pay tribute to the 150th Anniversary of Saratoga Race Course by presenting the World Premiere of an original orchestral composition by Grammy Award winning composer Richard Danielpour on August 8, 2013. The commission, sponsored by Saratoga 150 Committee Chair Charles V. Wait and his wife Candace, will be premiered by The Philadelphia Orchestra as part of a special concert celebrating the milestone of the iconic race course.
