WARREN COUNTY PLANNING AND TOURISM DEPARTMENTS ANNOUNCE 2008 OCCUPANCY SURVEY RESULTS

lake-george-logo-jpeg.jpgWarren County - The Warren County Departments of Planning and Tourism have together determined an estimate of the 2008 visitor population for the County.

Following the procedure used in previous years, preliminary analysis indicates:

                    3,749,205 people utilized non-resident lodging facilities; 

            -         582,898 persons stayed at local campgrounds; 

            -         42% of visitors are from within New York State;           

            -         17.33 % of visitors are from New Jersey,

                        followed by Massachusetts at 6.5% and Connecticut at 5.44%; 

            -         Average of 2.79 people per room registration; 

            -         Average stay of 3.2 days; 

            -         81.25% of all guests made advanced reservations; 

            -         19% of patronage was business related.

Based on expenditures which include lodging, meals, transportation, entertainment, etc., an estimate of probable Tourism expenditures in 2008 was $617,108,244.
